No deducts to newegg for selling this but EVGA should post limitations to this board. Motherboard driver disk does not install for Windows 7 but works great on Vista Ult.
Ram can go to 1200mhz provided it's epp ready which is very hard to find now.
You are able to download the motherboard update though or bios update but no utility update to have fun with the OC options in windows. I just don't understand why they'd make a board but no patch or update to use the cool motherboard functions in windows 7 and or help support makers of ram to have more of the epp ready available.I can see why newegg diactivated this product.
Good and stable board, fired right up. Runs fast with my Q9450, 2 GTX 260 GPU's SLI'ed but the second one does not go in the second slot, yep, all the way to the bottom of the board since the middle slots set for the 3 sli card.
I am searching for OCZ DDR2 PC2-9600 Reaper HPC Edition to put the full 8 gigs in this but the 1060 mhz reaper I have in this is ok.
Great Base Item for the following system:- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Processor, 2.83 GHz,12M L2 Cache, 1333MHz FSB, LGA775- Vista Business 64-bit Operating System- Zalman CNPS9700NT Copper Heat Pipe CPU Cooler- OCZ OCZ2N800SR4GK SLI DDR2 PC2-64004 GB Dual Channel Memory Kit- EVGA 512-P3-N976-AR e-GeForce 9800 GTSuperclocked 512MB DDR3 PCI-E 2.0 Graphics Card- WD VelociRaptor 300 GB Hard Drive 2.5 Inch,16 MB Cache, 10,000 RPM SATA II WD3000GLFS- CORSAIR 650w TX Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply
Very Stable and EVGA support was 100% dead on in helping me with SLI problem - thanks. It seems to be a problem with most boards. Board looks cool as can be.Cons: My first 8800 Ultra covers to x4 PCI-X slot, negating my wanting a better sound card. I need to redo mine as it only works with the side open for now - my problem.Other Thoughts: Bad placement of x4 PCI-X slot. Overclocking is a breeze.
Great board layout other than that. On-board sound is still a bit lacking on a board with this price. For anyone having trouble running 8GB with SLI, just disable SLI ready memory, works like a champ. Pros: It's cool to have three SLI slots although I doubt I need anything above my two 8800 Ultras for a while. Board layout is mostly good.
If you are running air only, get high capacity fans.
While I'm sure this is a great MOBO if you get a good one, I didn't. I had also installed a brand new Antec 550 watt PSU at the same time I installed the new MOBO. The USB ports were failing one by one on that board, but it turns out my OLD PSU was going bad. Tried different memory with no luck. So I RMA'd the EVGA board and got a refund. I always swap the PSU at the same time I swap a motherboard.
The Asus board works perfectly with the new PSU. Nice board, sadly it wouldn't POST or display video. Pulled the CPU and reinstalled it, still no joy. I decided to reinstall my trusty Asus P5B Deluxe.
Works great. If you get a rebate, be prepared to contest it because they may say you didn't sent all the required docs.
